What was once the Hartford Landfill is now the North Meadows Bird Sanctuary-a soon to be tourist attraction. There are now 28 bird nest boxes with more to come and is a haven for many types of endangered birds. While it’s not open to the public, groups can request a visit from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for permission to visit.
