Goodwin Park is where you can go from “nature lover” to “frustrated golfer” in about five minutes. Designed by the legendary Frederick Law Olmsted (the Central Park guy), this 237-acre playground features a massive pool for cooling off and a 27-hole golf course that has been humbling locals since 1906. If you aren’t there to lose a golf ball in the Great Meadow, you can hit the spray pad or explore the winding fitness trails and “Webster Walk” nearby. It’s the perfect spot to pretend you’re getting exercise while actually just scoping out the best picnic real estate.
