Railroad Earth
Since their formation in 2001, Railroad Earth has built their own tracks and veered off of the quintessential bluegrass path. The New Jersey band defines themselves as a “bluegrass-infused” American band with elements of progressive bluegrass, folk, rock, country, jazz, Celtic sounds and Americana influences.
“ ‘The amplified bluegass of Railroad Earth defies classification. Sometimes, the combination of strings, drums and amplifiers confuses even the band members themselves. ‘I always describe it as a string band, but an amplified string band with drums,’ mandolin player Tim Carbone says.
