Matt Parker & His Big Horn Special

Matt Parker, a newcomer to the Hartford area, fell in love with New Orleans and its rich musical heritage during a high school class trip. He began playing Dixieland music in the heart of New Orleans under the mentorship of seasoned musicians. Influenced by legends like Earl Bostic and Lee Allen, Matt founded The Big Horn Special right here in the Hartford area. The band carries on the legacy of the vibrant 1950s and 60s era of New Orleans R&B. They’re dedicated to bringing to life the soulful rhythms and infectious melodies of that time, playing songs from Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, Little Richard, and Fats Domino. They’re the perfect accompaniment to the down home cookin’ you’ll fill up on at Sally’s.
