Birthright
Birthright (1938) was an early, brutal critique of segregation and Jim Crow laws, which received criticism for its graphic depiction of institutionalized racism. Directed by Oscar Micheaux, it’s the story of a Harvard graduate who returns to his Southern hometown to open an industrial training school for blacks is taken advantage of by a racist white banker.
