Founded in 1987 and inspired by the historic Amistad ship uprising, the Amistad Center features a rich collection of over 7,000 pieces—from artwork to historical documents—telling stories that are often left out of mainstream history. Through exhibits, events, and educational programs, it aims to spark conversation, connect communities, and highlight the impact of Black culture on American life.
