Cloud Nova is an NYC-based jazz fusion band led by guitarist, vocalist, and composer Tony Davis. The sound of this ensemble accentuates Davis’ abilities as a songwriter and lyricist, melding early influences of folk rock and poetry with his modern jazz stylings. His compositions communicate lessons learned from life’s vicissitudes while maintaining a voice full of youthful optimism. His distinctly earnest and melodic music takes the listener through a kaleidoscope of unconventional blends of genres. From nostalgic ballads to electrifying grooves, he tells stories that share the common thread of healing, gratitude, and transcending internal barriers. Davis’s initial influences on guitar come from Jimi Hendrix and other blues artists like Blind Blake and Buddy Guy. Furthermore, being the son of two acclaimed jazz musicians, he inherited a deep love and connection to the jazz language of artists like John Coltrane and Bud Powell from a young age. Over time, he has developed his voice by weaving the sounds of his early influences with the lyricism of singer-songwriters & folk artists such as The Beatles and Grizzly Bear and the intricate harmony and rhythms of Cuban and Brazilian music.

Tony Davis is an internationally renowned jazz musician who regularly performs in NYC at venues such as The Blue Note, Birdland, Smalls, and Mezzrow. He has played at the Newport Jazz Festival and has shared the stage with jazz giants such as Christian McBride, Joe Farnsworth, and Harold Mabern. Most recently, he has toured internationally, playing at Mexico City’s Jazzatlan, Parker & Lenox, Casa Franca, and Zinco, where he performed with Anderson Paak. In 2017 Davis graduated from the acclaimed Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, Hartt School of Music. During his time there, he was featured as a rising star guitarist in the Wes Montgomery Tribute Festival in Indianapolis, IN. He then relocated to New York City and received a Master’s in Music at The City College of New York in 2019. Soon after, Davis was signed by the Posi-Tone record label in 2020. He released his debut album, “Golden Year,” which features an all-star lineup of some of the modern-day’s most acclaimed jazz musicians, such as Dezron Douglas, Eric McPherson, and Steve Wilson. Since then, he signed with La Reserve Records for his co-led album with vocalist Jamile, “Daring Two Be,” released in 2022. He plans to release his next album with La Reserve in late 2023.
