Join the Stowe Center as participants head into the Vault. Salons at Stowe will examine a 19th century medicine chest owned by Harriet Beecher Stowe while she lived in Hartford. Who was administering medicines at that time? What were these medicines and how were they supposed to heal people? How do these medicines reveal understandings of how bodies worked? Would they be safe to use today? (Hint: often NOT.)
