In most locations, street parking is free before 8am and after 6pm Monday through Friday, and on weekends. There are a few locations in the City where metered parking is effective after 6pm and on weekends, so be sure to check signage when you park.
You can pay for your street parking via the Woonerf app, this is especially handy when Mother Nature decides the perfect time to pelt you with rain is when your meter runs out.
Private Owners and Operators: Nearly all of the 45 parking lots and garages in Downtown Hartford are privately owned and operated. These lots and garages answer to the Department of Licenses and Inspections. The Hartford Parking Authority (HPA) operates the parking meters, but has very little to do with those privately owned lots/garages.
The on-street meters are enforced Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-6:00 PM, including holidays unless otherwise announced.

There are a bunch of meters around town that are no parking from 7:00 AM-9:00 AM and again from 3:30 PM-6:00 PM. What gives?
This is so they can open up more space during rush hour. It might drive you absolutely bananas, but it’s incredibly helpful when trying to get in or out.
