West End Wednesdays features authors who live in or near the West End of Hartford. Ethan Rutherford is the author of The Peripatetic Coffin and Other Stories, which was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and for the John Leonard Award, received honorable mention for the PEN/Hemingway Award, and was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. Filled with haunted history, dark tales, and Victorian traditions surrounding seances and spiritualism, these nighttime tours are as educational as they are goosebump-inducing. Participants will hear lots of creepy tales — and learn about Mark Twain’s interest in the supernatural. The Mark Twain House has been featured on Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters and the Biography Channel’s My Ghost Story. Tickets are available online; get them before they sell out. This tour is not appropriate for children under the age of 10.
