The Hartford Business Improvement District (HBID) is a non-profit, special services district located in Hartford, CT. The HBID is dedicated to bringing about positive and lasting change by creating a safer, cleaner and more attractive environment for employees, residents and visitors to the Central Business District and a portion of the Asylum Hill Neighborhood.

Position

The HBID seeks a 1099-contracted events coordinator to manage events and activations taking place on Pratt Street in downtown Hartford. The ideal candidate is a self-starting and driven individual with experience in event management and production. Candidate should possess excellent attention to detail and time management skills. This position requires both remote and onsite work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage event submissions for Pratt Street, determining which events require a City permit
  •  Manage a working Pratt Street events calendar to be shared with all applicable stakeholders
  • Work with event organizers to confirm all aspects of their event in advance, including but not limited to, date, run time, and scope of the event
  • Ensure that all events align with Pratt Street guidelines and City ordinances
  • Work with event organizers to create detailed site plans for each event
  • Be onsite for each approved Pratt Street event and activation to ensure that each event adheres to Pratt Street guidelines and City ordinances, as well as agreed upon site plan, run time, and event description

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of event management and/or production experience
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Experience with Google Sheets/Excel spreadsheets
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Director of Placemaking & Events

Pay Rate: $4,500 per month stipend for the months of May – October.
