Hartford History Lecture Series: Black Community Formation

This fall, a talented group of experts and historians will explore the hidden history of the publishing industry in Hartford in the 19th century.

The series kicks off on Saturday, September 17th with the opening of a brand new exhibit at Capital Community College exploring Black Community Formation. Dr. Frank Mitchell will share insights about Talcott Street Congregational Church and its role in mobilizing Hartford’s Black community.

Hartford History Lectures celebrate the value of local knowledge by revealing the narrative power of real things and real places. The Hartford History Lecture Series is a collaboration between Capital Community College’s Hartford Heritage Project, William Hosley’s Historic Hartford Facebook Group, and The Connecticut Democracy Center at Connecticut’s Old State House, with funding by CT Humanities and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
