Nat Reeves Quintet
Jun 18, 2021 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
During the past 36 years, Nat Reeves has been considered one of the top bassists in jazz.
His supportive and stimulating playing has uplifted a countless number of sessions and recording dates (most notably with the great altoists Jackie McLean and Kenny Garrett) and he has led his own CD State of Emergency. Both as a performer and an educator, he has made a strong impact on the jazz world.
Noted for his artful articulation, time, tone, taste, and irrepressible sense of swing and fluid invention, Reeves has always been a favorite of all kinds of instrumentalists, but a particularly special favorite of super saxophonists. Included among the roster of pro-Reeves reed players are such heavyweight champions as Sonny Stitt, Jackie McLean (the bassist’s great friend and mentor), and Kenny Garrett. Stitt, McLean, and Garrett are just three of the sax czars listed in the busy bassist’s thick resume studded with a galaxy of name jazz performers on various instruments.
Concert is FREE and takes place on the Rose Garden Lawn at Elizabeth Park.
Rain date is June 20
