Calling all kids! Join a summertime book discussion at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House.
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is the remarkable story of Esperanza Cordero. Told in a series of vignettes – sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes deeply joyous – it tells the tale of a young Latina girl growing up in Chicago, inventing for herself who and what she will become.
The House on Mango Street is best for ages 10-15, but all children are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian. Staff-led discussion; the author will not appear at the event.
Join additional Kids Will Change the World Book Club discussions: July 28 at 11 AM: The Lorax by Dr. Seuss (best for ages 4-10), August 18 at 11 AM: Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor (best for ages 9-13).
You can then buy the books in the Stowe Museum Store. Find more information here.
