Hopsy-Turvy: The Colorful History of Hartford Beer

Quiver Spirits invites you to a 3 PART SERIES on the colorful history of Hartford Beer, co-sponsored with Barnes & Noble UConn Hartford, Hanging Hills Brewing Co., Hog River Brewing Co., & Thomas Hooker Brewery at Colt. The three different lectures will take place 6 p.m. at each Brewery the First Wednesday of each month starting with Hanging Hills 10/5, Hog River 11/7, and ending with an actual End of Prohibition date of 12/5 at Thomas Hooker at Colt! Related Books will be for sale on-site by Barnes & Noble UConn Hartford. The delectable Baba Ghanoush Food Truck will help nourish the Soul. Tickets are $15 per lecture and include a Beer tasting.
Presented by Steve Thornton who has researched and written extensively on current political issues and local people’s history. He conducts workshops and walking tours, uncovering hidden stories from Hartford’s grassroots. A life-long union and community organizer, Steve calls on his experiences to bring the struggles of ordinary people to life. He is the author of A Shoeleather History of the Wobblies: Stories of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) in Connecticut (Red Sun Press, 2013) and Wicked Hartford (The History Press, 2017), and maintains the website ShoeleatherHistoryProject.com.
