A FREE outdoor Community Day celebrating what would have been Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 210th birthday. Rain Date: June 13.
Activities include an Ida B. Wells production, FREE HOUSE TOURS, art making activities, ice cream, and a museum store sale. Reservations required for tours and to attend the play.
Visitors of all ages are encouraged to make online reservations for 45 min. tours available every 30 minutes, as well as an immersive theater performance available during the birthday celebration. To reserve free tour tickets, visit www.stowecenter.org, select a desired time for June 12, and select the “Hartford Resident” option.
New Haven artist/performer Karima A. Robinson will perform scenes from her newly developed one-woman play about the life of anti-lynching advocate Ida B. Wells entitled, Colored People’s Day: Ida B. Wells at the Chicago World’s Fair. This theatrical promenade style experience will be presented outside on the grounds of the Stowe Center at 2-3:30pm. Registration available online.

Be sure to grab a sweet treat in between activities from Capital Ice Cream in between fun activities! Single serve dishes of select flavors will be $1. Ice cream servers will be there at 1:30 pm.
