Book/Mark: Tom Santopietro on Why “To Kill A Mockingbird” Matters

Monday, July 23, 2018, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Author Tom Santopietro will discuss the continuing cultural relevance of an American classic story based on his new book Why “To Kill a Mockingbird” Matters. A screening of the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird follows the book talk and signing.

Santopietro traces the writing of Harper Lee’s 1960 masterpiece, her use of her Southern hometown in the novel, and the impact winning the 1961 Pulitzer Prize for Literature had on Lee. He also takes readers behind the scenes for the creation of the film, with its screenplay by Horton Foote and a searing performance by Gregory Peck as humane lawyer Atticus Finch.
