Bollywood style of Dance originates from India primarily from Indian movies. Face expressions, hand gestures and intricate footwork make up the popular style. Bollywood dance is easy on the eye. But beneath the fizz is a series of historic symbols and traditions, which originate in India’s numerous traditional dance forms. Classical dance forms such as Bharatnatyam and Kathak, and folk dances such as Bhangra, each have their own unique styles, but they often share signs and meanings that are combined to create modern Bollywood dances.
About the Instructor:
Krishna Parekh, a Bollywood Dance teacher, Zumba Instructor, Actress and former Miss CT US International has been dancing her whole life. She knows many folk styles such as Bhangra originating from Punjab and Garba originating from Gujarat. Additionally, she’s been training in a Indian classical dance form called Kuchipudi and is always learning new styles. She’s a Latin dance enthusiast and has been performing on big venues like the Mohegan Sun Arena for over ten years. She is dedicated to her work on spreading the Indian culture through the arts in CT and teaches Bollywood Adult and kids classes at her dance studio – Desi Vibes Studio in Bloomfield.
