A Tribute to Sandy Parisky

Thursday, November 1, 2018, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Sandy Parisky was part of a group that worked to save the building from the efforts of The Hartford Redevelopment Agency to reuse the land, putting the building at danger of demolition or reuse as a profit-making entity. The restoration of the Charter Oak Temple became a civic goal that resulted in the commitment to make Connecticut’s first synagogue a lasting monument to religious freedom and cultural leadership.

Sandy became a leader of several successful initiatives in Hartford including the restoration of Bushnell Park with its monuments and its iconic landscape created from the Olmsted movement tradition, the drive to stabilize and maintain the Ancient Burying Ground, and the renewal of Pope Park.

Join old friends and family members in paying tribute to Sandy’s life that made supporting Hartford’s unique historical fabric and enduring promise a 45-year commitment. Along the way, Sandy’s work as an artist first in watercolors, then evolving into acrylics and pastels grew with numerous shows and exhibitions. A group of his paintings will be on display at the tribute.
