A Little Harmless Fun: “John Lennon Remembered”

Dec 08, 2020 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This December 8 marks the 40th anniversary of John Lennon’s death, and The Mark Twain House & Museum will commemorate the event with a special virtual program led by Frank Rizzo, longtime Connecticut arts writer.
Rizzo and photographer James Meehan covered the 1980 vigil for Lennon at The Dakota in Manhattan, where hundreds of fans stunned by the news gathered outside his legendary apartment building to pay their respects, mourn together, and honor the spirit of the legendary singer-songwriter whose words, music, and activism defined an era and inspired generations.
On Tuesday, December 8, at 7 p.m. in a live, on-line event, Rizzo will recount that experience — and share stunning unpublished images from that poignant time.
He will be joined by longtime Beatles expert Charles Rosenay and former Hartford Courant music writers Roger Catlin and Steve Metcalf.
The special event will be the fourth and final fall entry for the “in-conversation” series hosted by Rizzo.
