Because nobody works or goes to school over the last 10 or so days of the calendar year, and because Netflix will not stop producing or recommending that terrible show The Ranch, here’s a guide of some things to do in Hartford between now and the new year.

Holiday Light Fantasia (now through January 1)
Relive the childhood magic of hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights, and you don’t even have to get out of your car to do it. Perfect event for someone who loves the holidays but hates when the cold winter winds make your face hurt.

Ice Skating at Winterfest (now through January 2)
Look if you didn’t know there was this awesome skating rink in Bushnell Park where you could ice skate for FREE, then we’d like to help you lift up that boulder you’ve been living under. It’s probably cold and damp under there. Get some fresh air and enjoy one of the best winter events of the year. (And if you don’t know how to skate, that’s cool. They have Learn To Skate sessions for all ages on Saturday mornings.)

Hartford Wolf Pack Hockey (December 29 & 30)
Hockey. Hot Dogs. Holidays. Hopefully, Hartford hat tricks.

Sea Tea Improv (December 28 & 30)
Friday night is for the adults, Sunday afternoon is the all-ages family show. Sea Tea show tickets are the perfect gift for literally anyone in your family.

Live Music (pretty much every night of the week)
Jazz, blues, funk, and just about everything in between at multiple venues across the city, including Black-Eyed Sally’s, Arch Street Tavern, and Infinity Hall, to name a few. Live music soothes the soul, so get soothing.

First Night (December 31)
Fireworks, ice skating, comedy performances, historic tours, live music, and just about everything else that you could need to make the last night of the year amazing (and totally drunk vomit free).
