I love Hartford – always have, always will.  It has the size of a city but the soul of a town.   Even though I grew up in West Hartford my Dad’s work gave me a unique perspective on our fair city.  He was at various times Vice-Principal and Principal at both Thomas J. Quirk Middle School and Hartford Public High School; and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools.  We never missed the Turkey Bowl HPHS v. Weaver High at Dillon Stadium.

Where else in New England can you watch a Cricket match (Keney Park) and a Rugby Match (Colt Park) in the same day?  I love walking down Park Street in the summer – it reminds me of San Juan.  My favorite events are Pipes in The Valley in the fall, the Puerto Rican Day Parade in the summer, and the St. Patrick Day’s Parade.  Shag Frenzy, Hartford’s one and only Indie-dance party every month is something I try not to miss.  I’ve seen U2 nine times, seven at The Hartford Civic Center (XL Center) alone.  Bono thinks we’re pretty cool, huh?

When friends visit from out of town, where do I take them?  The Half Door, The Spigot, or Vaughan’s Public House.
